While most students spent their weekends at social events, Suffolk University senior Angela Cakridas was looking into investors and developing a business idea.
That business plan would land her products on QVC. Cakridas was on a family vacation when the idea struck her. She was looking for a clean and easy way to transport all of her make-up brushes. She thought of making a large brush and allowing the smaller brushes to fit inside of it.
Cakridas liked the idea and wanted to see if others did too. She entered Suffolk’s Elevator Pitch Competition and ended up winning $1,000 to develop her product. Cakridas went to Suffolk professor Sushil Bhatia to get help developing a prototype. After Cakridas developed a prototype, “Shark Tank” star and QVC-TV host Lori Greiner gave Cakridas a large investment. Shortly after, Greiner debuted Cakridas’ brushes on QVC and have since sold over 10,000 units. Cakridas hopes to continue inventing new ideas.
